97% attendance

Dear Iredell ISD Families,

Welcome to our first full week of school! It has been wonderful to see our students back on campus, reconnecting with friends and teachers, and getting back into the routine of learning. As we settle into the year, I want to share a key goal we have for our campus: 97% student attendance. We know this is an ambitious but achievable goal—last year, we ended at 96.7%.

Every day in the classroom is an opportunity for your child to build foundational knowledge, engage with their peers and teachers, and grow academically and socially. Research shows that even a few missed days each month can significantly impact a student's learning progress. In fact, by sixth grade, chronic absenteeism is a leading indicator of whether a student will drop out of high school. Our goal is to ensure every student is on a path to success from the beginning of their academic journey.

Additionally, please remember the importance of arriving on time. The school day officially begins when the bell rings at 7:45 am. The first few minutes of the school day are crucial for setting a positive tone and introducing the day's lessons. Arriving on time ensures your child doesn't miss important instructions and helps them feel prepared and confident for the day ahead. Students who are frequently late often feel rushed and can fall behind their peers, making it harder to succeed.

We truly value our partnership with you in making Iredell ISD a place where students are successful and accountable. Student success is a team effort, and we appreciate your support in helping your child be present and on time each day. We look forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth together.

Sincerely,

Bonnie Johnston
